How to Use This Calculator
- Rate the child's Frankl behavior (1 = definitely negative, 2 = negative, 3 = positive, 4 = definitely positive) based on in-operatory observation.
- Enter the child's age in months and Previous dental experience (0 = none, 1 = negative, 2 = mixed, 3 = positive).
- Set Procedure complexity (1 = exam/prophy, 2 = filling, 3 = pulpotomy/extraction), Parental anxiety level (1 = calm to 3 = highly anxious), and whether Special healthcare needs are present.
- Review the Composite behavior score (0–100), Frankl rating, and Management recommendation (1 = tell-show-do, 2 = enhanced guidance, 3 = N2O sedation, 4 = moderate sedation/GA).
- Use the Appointment time multiplier and Parent presence recommendation (in operatory vs. waiting room) to optimize scheduling and room setup.
