How to Use This Calculator
- Enter your total logged dive count and total bottom time in hours from your dive log.
- Input your average dive depth and deepest logged depth in meters.
- Enter the average tank pressure consumed per dive in bar (start minus end pressure).
- Select your typical tank volume in litres (AL80 = 11.1 L is the most common).
- Read Estimated SAC Rate (L/min) — excellent is below 12 L/min; above 20 L/min suggests room to improve breathing technique.
- Check Experience Level and whether your max depth exceeds what is typical for your certification level.

- Total number of dives in your logbook.
- Total bottom time (hours)
- Sum of all dive bottom times in hours.
- Average depth (m)
- Your average dive depth across all logged dives.
- Maximum depth (m)
- Deepest dive you have logged.
- Avg tank used (bar)
- Average pressure consumed per dive (start minus end pressure).
- Tank volume (L)
- Internal volume of your typical tank. AL80 = 11.1 L.
What each result means
- Avg dive time (min)
- Average bottom time per dive in minutes.
- Estimated SAC (L/min)
- Estimated Surface Air Consumption rate. Excellent <12, Good 12-16, Average 16-20, High >20.
- SAC rating (1-4)
- 1 = Excellent, 2 = Good, 3 = Average, 4 = High consumption.
- Depth exposure (m·hrs)
- Cumulative depth × time exposure metric.
- Experience level (1-4)
- 1 = Beginner (<30 dives), 2 = Intermediate (30-100), 3 = Advanced (100-500), 4 = Expert (500+).
- Depth exceeds experience?
- 1 = your max depth exceeds typical for your experience level.
- Est. dives per year
- Estimated annual dive frequency.
