How to Use This Calculator
  1. Select the current or planned tide phase: incoming, high, outgoing, or low — moving water is generally best.
  2. Choose the moon phase for your fishing date: new and full moons produce stronger tides and feeding periods.
  3. Select your fishing type: inshore (tide-critical), offshore (less so), or surf fishing.
  4. Pick the current season — fall and spring generally rate highest; winter is slowest.
  5. Read the Fishing Rating (out of 10) as your overall conditions score.
  6. Check the Best Window code (1=Dawn through 6=Night) and Peak Activity Level % to plan your launch time.

What each input means

Tide Phase
Current or planned tide phase. Moving water (incoming/outgoing) generally produces the best fishing.
Moon Phase
The lunar phase affects tidal strength and fish feeding patterns. New and full moons trigger stronger tides and major feeding periods.
Fishing Type
The type of fishing you plan to do. Inshore and surf fishing are heavily tide-dependent; offshore less so.
Season
Season affects fish behavior, feeding intensity, and migration patterns.

What each result means

Fishing Rating
Overall fishing quality rating based on all conditions combined.
Best Window
Recommended time: 1=Dawn, 2=Morning, 3=Midday, 4=Afternoon, 5=Dusk, 6=Night.
Peak Activity Level
Estimated fish activity level as a percentage of maximum.
Lunar Influence
How strongly the current moon phase is affecting tides and feeding behavior.
