How to Use This Calculator
  1. Follow the step-by-step wizard — complete each step before moving to the next. This guided approach ensures you provide all the necessary information in a logical order.
  2. Travel Mode — How will you travel to your destination? Choose from: Road Trip (Driving), Flying. default: 0.
  3. Distance (one way) — Distance to your destination in miles. Accepts values from 10 miles to 10,000 miles (default: 500 miles).
  4. Trip Duration — Total number of days for your trip. Accepts values from 1 days to 60 days (default: 5 days).
  5. Number of Travelers — How many people are traveling? Accepts values from 1 to 20 (default: 2).
  6. Fuel Efficiency — Your vehicle's fuel efficiency in miles per gallon. Accepts values from 10 MPG to 100 MPG (default: 30 MPG).
  7. Fuel Price — Current gas price per gallon. Accepts values from $1 /gal to $10 /gal (default: $3.5 /gal).
  8. Flight Cost (per person, round trip) — Round trip flight cost per person. Accepts values from $50 to $5,000 (default: $300).
  9. Need Rental Car? — Will you need a rental car at your destination? Choose from: No, Yes. default: 1.
  10. Rental Car Cost — Daily rental car cost. Accepts values from $20 /day to $500 /day (default: $50 /day).
  11. Hotel Rate — Average hotel rate per night. Accepts values from $30 /night to $1,000 /night (default: $150 /night).
  12. Airbnb/VRBO Rate — Average Airbnb/VRBO rate per night. Accepts values from $30 /night to $1,000 /night (default: $120 /night).
  13. Food Budget — Daily food budget per person. Accepts values from $20 /day/person to $300 /day/person (default: $75 /day/person).
  14. Expand "Advanced Options" for additional fine-tuning. These optional inputs let you model more specific scenarios:
  15. Activities Budget — Daily activities/entertainment budget per person. Accepts values from $0 /day/person to $500 /day/person (default: $50 /day/person).
  16. Miscellaneous Budget — Daily misc expenses (tips, souvenirs, etc.) per person. Accepts values from $0 /day/person to $200 /day/person (default: $25 /day/person).
  17. Average Driving Speed — Your average driving speed for time calculations. Accepts values from 30 mph to 80 mph (default: 60 mph).
  18. Once all inputs are set, review your results in the Results panel. Here's what each output means:
