Stamped Concrete Cost Calculator
Estimate stamped concrete costs by pattern complexity, colors, and sealer coats. Compare to pavers and plain concrete.
About this calculator
Total Cost breaks into five independent components, and each of the three "quality" inputs -- Pattern Complexity, Number of Colors, Sealer Coats -- touches exactly one of them, never the others: Base Concrete and Prep/Forms depend only on Area, Stamping Labor depends only on Area and Pattern Complexity, Color/Release Agent depends only on Area and Number of Colors, and Sealer depends only on Area and Sealer Coats. That means Pattern Complexity has zero effect on Color/Release Agent cost, Number of Colors has zero effect on Stamping Labor, and so on -- each quality choice is fully isolated to its own line item. Pattern Complexity has the largest per-step swing of the three: moving from Basic to Complex triples the stamping rate from $3 to $10 per sq ft, pushing Total Cost from about $7,125 to $10,625 at the default 500 sq ft area -- enough to erase the Savings vs Pavers advantage entirely (it goes from about $2,875 saved to a $625 loss at Complex).
Number of Colors adds a flat $0.75/sq ft for each color beyond the first, and Sealer Coats adds $0.75/sq ft per coat, so both scale linearly rather than stepping like Pattern Complexity does. Annual Maintenance Cost is derived directly from Sealer cost (roughly one resealing cycle's cost divided across 2.5 years), so it rises and falls with Sealer Coats but ignores Pattern Complexity and Number of Colors entirely. This estimate uses flat regional rate assumptions and does not account for site access, existing surface removal, or design-specific labor premiums.

How to Use This Calculator
- Enter the total stamped area in sq ft (patio, driveway, walkway, or pool deck).
- Select pattern complexity: 1 for basic single-stamp, 2 for borders plus main pattern, 3 for multi-stamp or hand-carved designs.
- Enter the number of colors (integral color plus accent colors).
- Set the number of sealer coats — 2 coats is standard for durability and color enhancement.
- Review the Total Cost and Cost per Sq Ft for budgeting; the cost breakdown chart shows each component.
- Compare Savings vs Pavers to justify the choice of stamped concrete over paver installation.
How the result changes with Area (sq ft)
| Area (sq ft) | Total Cost | Cost per Sq Ft |
|---|---|---|
| 250 | $4,313.00 | $17.25 |
| 375 | $6,470.00 | $17.25 |
| 750 | $12,938.00 | $17.25 |
| 1,250 | $21,563.00 | $17.25 |
What each input means
- Area (sq ft)
- Total square footage of stamped concrete area
- Pattern (1=Basic, 2=Moderate, 3=Complex)
- Basic: single stamp; Moderate: borders + stamp; Complex: multi-stamp, hand-carved
- Number of Colors
- Integral color + accent colors (more colors = more cost)
- Sealer Coats
- Number of sealer coats (2 recommended for protection and color enhancement)

Frequently Asked Questions
If I want a two-tone pattern with a border in a different color, how many colors should I enter?
A two-tone design with a contrasting border color typically counts as 2 in this calculator's Number of Colors field -- the base integral color plus one accent or release-agent color -- and each color beyond the first adds a flat $0.75 per square foot regardless of which pattern complexity you selected.
How much does pattern complexity change the total project cost?
Substantially -- at the default 500 sq ft area, moving from Basic (1) to Moderate (2) raises Total Cost from about $7,125 to $8,625, and moving to Complex (3) raises it further to about $10,625, since the stamping rate roughly triples, from $3 to $10 per sq ft, across the three levels.
Can a complex pattern erase the savings versus pavers?
Yes -- at the default area, Savings vs Pavers falls from about $2,875 at Basic pattern complexity to about $1,375 at Moderate, and turns into a $625 loss at Complex, since Complex stamping costs more per square foot than the paver comparison price used in this calculator.
Is a third or fourth sealer coat worth paying for, or does the extra protection stop paying off?
Sealer cost and Annual Maintenance both scale linearly with Sealer Coats -- each additional coat adds a flat $0.75 per square foot and raises the ongoing resealing budget proportionally, with no output here modeling a durability plateau, so weigh a third or fourth coat against your own foot traffic and climate exposure rather than expecting a break-even coat count from this tool.
