Labor runs on a $4/sq ft base rate for basic patterns like brick or tile, rising 50% for moderate patterns like ashlar or cobblestone, and doubling for premium patterns like European fan or random stone. On a 500 sq ft patio, that's the difference between roughly $2,000 and $4,000 in labor alone, before materials.
Can stamped concrete be applied to an existing slab?
No, not with this method — stamping requires the concrete to still be plastic when the pattern is pressed in, so it only works during a fresh pour. Adding a stamped look to an existing slab requires a different process, such as a stampable concrete overlay poured as a thin topping.
Does slab thickness affect anything besides concrete volume?
