Prayer Time Calculator
Plan your daily prayer schedule and calculate your total prayer time commitment per week, month, and year.
About this calculator
This calculator adds up the minutes you spend in morning, midday, and evening prayer into a daily total, then projects that daily habit forward into weekly, monthly, and yearly time commitments. The three prayer-session inputs are summed directly and equally — there's no weighting toward any one session — so ten extra minutes in your morning prayer contributes the same daily total as ten extra minutes at midday or in the evening. Days Per Week only scales the weekly, monthly, and yearly projections; it has no effect on the Daily Prayer Time figure itself, since that's calculated purely from the three session lengths regardless of how many days you keep the schedule.
The monthly figure uses an average of 4.35 weeks per month and the yearly figure uses 52.18 weeks per year, both standard calendar-averaging conventions rather than any specific month's actual day count, so the monthly total is a smoothed average rather than an exact figure for any single real month. This calculator does not adjust for religious calendars with variable daily prayer counts, seasonal prayer time changes, or days you might skip — it assumes the schedule you enter holds consistently across every counted day.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Days Per Week change my Daily Prayer Time total?
No — Daily Prayer Time is calculated purely from the sum of your morning, midday, and evening minutes and does not depend on Days Per Week at all. Days Per Week only comes into play once the calculator projects that daily total forward into weekly, monthly, and yearly commitments.
Why is the monthly figure not just daily time times 30?
Because months don't all have the same number of days, this calculator multiplies your weekly total by 4.35, a smoothed monthly-weeks figure derived from spreading 52.18 weeks evenly across twelve months, rather than assuming a fixed 30-day month. That keeps the monthly figure consistent regardless of which specific month you're thinking about.
Is one prayer session weighted more heavily than the others?
No — morning, midday, and evening minutes are added together with equal weight to produce the daily total. Ten extra minutes in any one of the three sessions increases your daily total by the same ten minutes, regardless of which session you added them to.
Why does the yearly total use 52.18 weeks instead of exactly 52?
A calendar year is about 365.25 days long on average once you account for leap years, which works out to roughly 52.18 weeks rather than an even 52. Using the more precise multiplier keeps the yearly projection consistent with a true average year rather than slightly undercounting it.
