Scripture Memory Tracker

Track Bible verses memorized and estimate how long it will take to reach your memorization goal.

About this calculator

This is a pacing calculator for any structured memorization plan measured in a fixed unit -- verses, in this case, but the same weekly-rate math applies to memorizing lines, vocabulary, or any other item set one chunk at a time. Enter how many verses you've already memorized, your target total, and how many new verses you plan to add each week, and it projects a timeline. Remaining Verses is simply Target Verses minus what you've already memorized, so it falls as you log progress and rises if you raise your target.

Weeks to Target divides Remaining Verses by your weekly rate and rounds up, since a partial week still counts as a full week of work; raising your weekly rate always shortens that timeline. Verses Per Month and Verses Per Year restate your weekly pace at longer intervals using average weeks-per-month and weeks-per-year figures, useful for comparing a weekly habit to a longer-term goal. Percent Complete is just your progress so far as a share of the target, capped at 100% -- if you have already memorised more than your target, Remaining Verses and Weeks to Target both read 0 and it is time to raise the target.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does Weeks to Target round up instead of showing a decimal?

A partial week of memorization still takes a full week of calendar time to complete -- if you need 2.3 weeks at your current pace, you'll still be working into that third week, so the calculator rounds up rather than showing a number of weeks you can't actually schedule.

What happens if I raise Verses Per Week without changing Remaining Verses?

The timeline outputs move; the gap itself doesn't. Remaining Verses is just Target Verses minus Verses Already Memorized -- a simple gap calculation that doesn't depend on your pace at all. Verses Per Week only affects how long the timeline outputs (Weeks to Target, Months to Target) project that same gap will take to close.

How are Verses Per Month and Verses Per Year calculated?

They restate your weekly rate using average calendar figures -- about 4.35 weeks per month and 52.18 weeks per year -- rather than a specific calendar's exact week count. They're meant for comparing a weekly habit to a longer-term pace, not for precise scheduling around a specific month.

What if I want to memorize something other than Bible verses with this?

The math is a generic weekly-pace-to-goal calculation -- it works the same way for memorizing lines from a play, vocabulary words, poems, or any other list you're working through one item at a time on a set weekly rate. Just treat "verses" as whatever unit you're tracking.
