Number of team practice sessions per week. Collegiate teams typically do 5-6.
Practice length (hours)
Duration of each practice session in hours.
Games in season
Total competitive games scheduled for the season.

What each result means

General prep (weeks)
Weeks of base fitness building — swim conditioning, strength, aerobic capacity.
Specific prep (weeks)
Weeks focused on water polo-specific skills, tactics, and team play.
Competition (weeks)
Weeks of regular-season competition and game-focused training.
Taper/peak (weeks)
Reduced-volume weeks before championship to peak performance.
