Wedding Floral Budget Calculator

Wedding flower cost from ceremony and reception needs.

About this calculator

This calculator sums wedding flowers across three categories — personal flowers (bridal bouquet, bridesmaid bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages), ceremony pieces (altar arrangements, arches, aisle markers), and reception centerpieces — each built from a per-item quantity times an average cost you supply. A single seasonality multiplier then scales the entire subtotal: in-season flowers add nothing, a mixed sourcing plan adds 15%, and fully out-of-season or imported stock adds 35%, reflecting the real premium florists pay for flying in blooms that aren't naturally available. On top of the season-adjusted total, the model adds a flat 12% for setup, delivery, and breakdown labor, which is the industry-typical share these logistics eat out of a floral budget.

Two extra figures help with planning context rather than direct floral cost: an "implied wedding budget," which simply divides your floral total by 0.10 under the common rule-of-thumb that flowers run about 10% of overall wedding spend (useful as a sanity check, not a hard rule — real weddings range 8–15%), and a cost-per-guest figure for reception flowers that assumes 8 guests per table. The biggest assumption to watch is that seasonality applies uniformly to every category at once — if only your reception flowers are exotic while ceremony pieces are locally sourced, you'll want to run those pieces through separately rather than trusting one blended multiplier across everything.

How this is calculated

Worked example, using the default values

  1. Identify Input Parameters
    4 parameters
    Bridal bouquet ($) = 250, Number of bridesmaids = 4, Bridesmaid bouquet ($) = 85, Number of boutonnieres = 6 = 12 input(s) provided

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does one seasonality setting affect my entire floral budget, not just certain flowers?

The calculator applies a single multiplier — 1.0× in-season, 1.15× mixed, 1.35× out-of-season/imported — to the combined subtotal of personal flowers, ceremony pieces, and reception centerpieces all at once. If your bridal bouquet uses imported peonies but your centerpieces are locally sourced greenery, you'll get a more accurate number by running each category through separately at its own seasonality setting rather than blending them.

What is the "implied wedding budget" number actually telling me?

It divides your total floral budget by 0.10, based on the common industry rule-of-thumb that flowers run about 10% of overall wedding spend. It's a sanity check for whether your floral costs are proportionate to a typical wedding budget, not a real total — actual weddings spend anywhere from 8% to 15% of budget on flowers, so treat it as a rough cross-check rather than your true overall budget.

How is the setup and delivery cost calculated?

It's a flat 12% applied to the season-adjusted floral subtotal (personal flowers, ceremony pieces, and centerpieces after the seasonality multiplier), reflecting the industry-typical share that delivery, setup, and breakdown labor eats out of a floral budget. Because it's applied after seasonality, a higher seasonal premium also raises the dollar amount allocated to setup and delivery, not just the flowers themselves.

How is the reception cost-per-guest figure calculated?

It takes your season-adjusted reception flower total and divides it by the number of centerpieces times an assumed 8 guests per table, giving a rough floral cost per person for the reception only — it doesn't include personal flowers or ceremony pieces. If your actual guests-per-table count differs from 8, this figure will be proportionally off from your real per-guest floral spend.
