Wedding Flower Budget Calculator

Estimate total wedding flower costs including bouquets, centerpieces, boutonnieres, ceremony arrangements, and corsages.

About this calculator

Total Flower Cost builds up from five components: Bouquets Subtotal (Number of Bouquets times Avg Bouquet Cost), Centerpieces Subtotal (Number of Centerpieces times Avg Centerpiece Cost), Boutonnieres (estimated from bouquet count), Ceremony Arrangements (estimated as a share of the combined bouquet and centerpiece spend), and a fixed estimate for Corsages. Total Wedding Budget never feeds into that total at all -- it's used purely as a comparison point, dividing into Total Flower Cost to produce % of Wedding Budget, and separately scaled by an industry rule-of-thumb (9%) to produce Recommended Budget (9%).

That means raising Total Wedding Budget alone never changes what your flowers actually cost; it only changes what share of the budget that fixed dollar figure represents, and what the recommended allocation would be. Cost Per Guest divides the full Total Flower Cost -- not just centerpieces -- across an estimated guest count of roughly 8 guests per reception table, using Number of Centerpieces as a stand-in for table count, so it reflects the true per-guest share of everything spent on flowers, not one category in isolation.

  2. Input Avg Bouquet Cost ($) — the bride's bouquet typically runs $200-$350, bridesmaids' are less.
  3. Set Avg Centerpiece Cost ($) based on your florist quotes and style (low: $75, high: $300+).
  4. Enter Total Wedding Budget ($) to see flowers as a percentage of overall spending.
  5. Review Total Flower Cost and compare it to the Recommended Budget (9% of total) to stay on track.
  6. Check Over/Under Recommended to decide whether to simplify arrangements or adjust other budget categories.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does raising Total Wedding Budget change Total Flower Cost?

No. Total Flower Cost is built entirely from Number of Bouquets, Number of Centerpieces, Avg Bouquet Cost, and Avg Centerpiece Cost -- Total Wedding Budget only comes into play afterward, as the denominator for % of Wedding Budget and the base for Recommended Budget (9%). Changing it alone never moves your actual flower spend.

What does Cost Per Guest actually include?

The full Total Flower Cost -- bouquets, centerpieces, boutonnieres, ceremony arrangements, and corsages together -- divided by an estimated guest count based on roughly 8 guests per reception table times Number of Centerpieces. It is not limited to centerpiece costs alone.

How is Recommended Budget (9%) calculated?

It's simply Total Wedding Budget multiplied by 9%, reflecting a common industry rule of thumb that flowers run roughly 8-10% of overall wedding spending. Over/Under Recommended then compares your actual Total Flower Cost against that 9% figure to show whether you're above or below the typical allocation.

Why do Boutonnieres and Corsages costs change so little between weddings?

Boutonnieres scale with Number of Bouquets (estimated at 1.5 boutonnieres per bouquet at a fixed per-piece price), while Corsages uses a fixed assumed count and price for mothers and grandmothers rather than an input you control. Both are estimates meant to give a reasonable ballpark, not a precise count for your specific guest list.
