How to Use This Calculator
  1. Enter the total number of temperature readings in the log period.
  2. Set average, maximum, and minimum temperatures in °F, and the number of out-of-range readings.
  3. Select the storage type (cold holding ≤41 °F, frozen ≤0 °F, or hot holding ≥135 °F).
  4. The calculator shows compliance rate, temperature score, range, whether the average is in range, critical violations, and whether corrective action is needed.
  5. If compliance rate falls below 95%, investigate equipment calibration, door seals, and loading practices.

What each input means

Total Readings
Total number of temperature readings in the log.
Average Temperature (°F)
Average of all temperature readings.
Maximum Temperature (°F)
Highest temperature recorded.
Minimum Temperature (°F)
Lowest temperature recorded.
Out-of-Range Readings
Number of readings outside acceptable range.

How this is calculated

Worked example, using the default values

  1. Identify Input Parameters
    4 parameters
    Total Readings = 24, Average Temperature (°F) = 38, Maximum Temperature (°F) = 42, Minimum Temperature (°F) = 35 = 6 input(s) provided
  2. Calculate Compliance Rate
    Compliance Rate
    91.67 = 91.67
  3. Calculate Temperature Score
    Temperature Score
    85 = 85
  4. Calculate Temperature Range
    Temperature Range
    7 = 7
  5. Calculate Average In Range
    Yes = Yes
