How to Use This Calculator
  1. Start by filling in the input fields below. Results update instantly as you type, so you can experiment with different values to see how they affect the outcome.
  2. Snow Depth — Depth of snow accumulation. Accepts values from 1 inches to 120 inches (default: 12 inches).
  3. Roof Area — Roof surface area. Accepts values from 100 sq ft to 10,000 sq ft (default: 1,500 sq ft).
  4. Snow Type — Type of snow (fresh, packed, wet). Choose from: Fresh/Light Snow, Settled Snow, Packed Snow, Ice. default: 1.
  5. Roof Pitch (degrees) — enter a number in °. Accepts values from 0 ° to 60 ° (default: 20 °).
  6. Once all inputs are set, review your results in the Results panel. Here's what each output means:
  7. Load per Sq Ft — shown as a numeric value. This is the primary result of this calculator.
  8. Total Roof Load — shown as a numeric value.
  9. Total Load — shown as a numeric value.
  10. Risk Level — your calculated result.
  11. % of Typical Capacity — shown as a numeric value.
