How to Use This Calculator
  1. Start by filling in the input fields below. Results update instantly as you type, so you can experiment with different values to see how they affect the outcome.
  2. Model Weight — Total weight of the printed model in grams (from slicer estimate). Accepts values from 1 g to 10,000 g (default: 50 g).
  3. Spool Weight — Net filament weight per spool (typically 1000g for a 1kg spool). Accepts values from 100 g to 5,000 g (default: 1,000 g).
  4. Spool Price — Purchase price for one spool of filament. Accepts values from $1 to $200 (default: $20).
  5. Waste Percentage — Estimated waste from supports, purge lines, skirts, and failed prints. Accepts values from 0 % to 50 % (default: 5 %).
  6. Once all inputs are set, review your results in the Results panel. Here's what each output means:
  7. Filament Used (incl. waste) — shown as a numeric value. This is the primary result of this calculator.
  8. Cost per Print — shown as a dollar amount. This is the primary result of this calculator.
  9. Prints per Spool — shown as a numeric value.
  10. Waste per Print — shown as a numeric value.
  11. Cost per Gram — shown as a dollar amount.
  12. Cost per kg — shown as a dollar amount.
  13. Spool Remaining After 1 Print — shown as a numeric value.
